Dermal fillers: how they can help with vaginal rejuvenation

Dr Yuri Michitiuc

Vaginal rejuvenation is becoming a popular treatment for women wanting to improve their sex lives, and dermal fillers is one way of achieving this. But as Dr Yuri Michitiuc explains it’s not just all about sex, there are some added benefits as well.

You may notice aging in your face first but other areas of your body are also affected – including your vagina and external genitalia. As oestrogen levels drop with age the internal vaginal walls can lose strength and thickness while the external ‘lips’ can thin and lose their plump, healthy pink look.

But it’s not just aging that can take its toll. The stress of child birth can also affect sensation in the region as the vaginal walls undergo some significant pressure – not to mention the hormonal changes.

Often these changes can affect your sex life, with sex becoming less enjoyable or even painful. Urinary incontinence – those ‘oops’ moment when you sneeze – can be another symptom.

Fortunately, vaginal dermal filler can be used as a means of improving upon how well your tissues ‘feel’ and work. While dermal fillers are usually associated with your face and lip enhancement, a carefully injected measure of filler in the right places can help restore the genital  area making it feel healthier and stronger.

Like dermal fillers this technique uses hyaluronic acid – a molecule that is your body’s natural filler so there are no harmful effects.

How is this done?

The hyaluronic acid vaginal dermal filler is injected into the internal front wall of the of the vagina. It may also be administered closer to the clitoris. (Don’t worry, a numbing cream is used and you wont feel a thing.)

The hyaluronic acid works to strengthen and fill out the area by absorbing water – it can absorb 1000 times its weight in water. This adds volume to the tissue, which can in turn make sex a little more enjoyable.

How does  it improve your sexual life?

With vaginal dermal filler, the sensitivity in your vaginal area will improve. The tissues will feel restored and healthy again. As the anterior wall of the vaginal is rejuvenated it increases in sensitivity. This is the area where you g-shot is located. An improvement in the function of this spot means you will have an easier time becoming aroused.

This in turn leads to better lubrication and may go some way to reducing the pain some women experience during sex, due to vaginal dryness or after childbirth or menopause. (And it can also help stop the urinary incontinence. The extra volume in the vagina helps support the urethra, making it less likely to retain urine which is then forced out when you sneeze or laugh.)

The results should last around 12 to 18 months – although they will vary with every individual.

The best part is that you will feel a true sense of restoration in the vaginal area following the treatment. The area will feel younger and more vibrant.

An additional bonus is that there is no surgery involved and no downtime. You can walk out of the clinic and resume your day as normal.

Vaginal rejuvenation with dermal fillers is fast becoming a popular treatment and there is no doubt that it can improve upon how your body ‘feels’ for sex no matter your age.
